#Where settings live

Administrator settings are under Settings → System Configuration, with related areas split out in the Settings menu: Alerts, Backups, Licensing, Updates, and User Management. Most changes apply immediately in the console.

#General preferences

  • Appearance — choose a light or dark interface theme.
  • Session timeout — how long an idle session stays signed in. Set this to match the sensitivity of your data.
  • Status refresh — how often the dashboard and status indicators refresh.

#Logging and retention

Run history is kept according to your plan's retention window. Longer retention uses more disk on the host, so size the host's storage accordingly if you run many high-file-count jobs. See Logs & monitoring for how retention affects what you can review.

#Certificates, identity, and security

System Configuration is also where you manage the HTTPS certificate and, on supported plans, identity and access controls — SAML SSO, LDAP sign-in, IP allowlisting, and session security (see Security settings).

Changing the console port or certificate may require a quick restart of the web service before it takes effect. FileAgent will tell you if a restart is needed.

#Treat these as change-controlled

Session timeout, certificate configuration, SSO/LDAP, IP allowlists, user roles, archive permissions, and backup locations all affect security. Restrict System Configuration to administrators and review changes the way you'd review firewall rules.
