FTP

Connect classic FTP endpoints, including legacy vendor systems. Available on Pro plans and above.

#What you need

FTP connects classic FTP servers, often legacy vendor systems. It's available on Pro plans and above. Create an FTP credential with:

  • Host and port (default 21).
  • Username and password — ideally a service account scoped to the exchange directory.

#Passive vs active mode

FTP can connect in passive or active mode. Passive (PASV) works through most modern firewalls and NAT, so prefer it. If logins succeed but directory listings or transfers hang, it's almost always a passive/active vs. firewall mismatch — see FTP troubleshooting.

#A note on security

Where you have the choice, prefer SFTP over plain FTP. Use FTP when a partner or legacy system only supports it.

#Set up and test

  1. Create the credential under Credentials → New credential → FTP.
  2. Enter host, port, username, and password.
  3. Choose Test connection before saving.
