Updating FileAgent

Keep FileAgent current from inside the console. Updates preserve your jobs, credentials, and settings — and a short routine keeps production updates low-risk.

#How updates work

FileAgent checks for new releases and manages updates under Settings → Updates. Product updates are included on Pro plans and above. Your installed version is always visible on the Updates page. Updating preserves your configuration, jobs, credentials, and logs.

#Check, download, install

  1. Check — the Updates page shows your current version and whether a newer release is available, with release notes.
  2. Download — fetch the update from the Updates page, or from fileagent.app/download if outbound internet is restricted.
  3. Install — apply the update on the host. On Windows, run the new installer; on Linux, install the new package over the existing one. Your data is preserved.

#Versioning

Releases use major.minor.patch versions. Patch releases are fixes, minor releases add features, and major releases may change behavior — read the release notes before applying a major update.

#Recommended production routine

  1. Pick a window when no critical jobs are scheduled (check next-run times on the Jobs page).
  2. Take a configuration backup first (Business plans and above).
  3. Apply the update, sign in, and confirm the version and System Status.
  4. Use Run now on one representative job to validate end-to-end before the next scheduled wave.
Stay within a release or two of current. Small, regular updates are far lower-risk than rare big jumps.
