#What it backs up
On Business plans and above, Settings → Backups backs up FileAgent's configuration: your jobs, credentials, users, and settings. It does not back up the files your jobs move — that's the job of your storage systems and your own backup tooling.
#Creating and scheduling backups
- Open Settings → Backups.
- Run a backup on demand, or schedule regular backups.
- Store backups where only administrators can read them — they contain sensitive configuration.
Always take a backup before updates or major configuration changes, so a failed change is just a restore away.
#Restoring
You can restore a backup onto a repaired or replacement host from the first-run setup screen (see First login & setup) — this is how you rebuild FileAgent on new hardware and bring back your jobs, credentials, users, and settings.
#Keep backups safe
Configuration backups contain sensitive material, including stored credentials. Store them on protected storage with restricted access, and apply the same controls you'd apply to the FileAgent host itself.
For host-level backup and recovery guidance, see Backup & recovery.
