#Where licensing is managed
Everything license-related lives under Settings → Licensing: activate a key, view your current plan and limits, refresh validation, or import an offline license file. Your license key is emailed to you when you purchase a plan.
#Activating a license
- Open the license email you received after checkout and copy the key.
- Go to Settings → Licensing → Activate license.
- Paste the key and choose Activate. FileAgent validates it and unlocks your plan's connectors, limits, and features immediately.
Need the email re-sent? Use the activation page or contact [email protected].
#License validation
FileAgent periodically revalidates the license over HTTPS. Plans tolerate a bounded offline window, so a brief outage or firewall hiccup won't interrupt jobs. The Licensing page shows current status and the last validation time; use Refresh to revalidate on demand after fixing connectivity.
#Plan limits
Your plan sets the number of users, jobs, and stored credentials; which connectors are available; how long run history is kept; and which features are unlocked (Sync/Mirror, Scheduled Purge, alert channels, RBAC, backups, SSO/LDAP, and the AI Assistant on Business Premium and Enterprise). The full matrix is on the pricing page. When you reach a limit, FileAgent tells you at the point of action — for example, when you try to create one more job than your plan allows.
#Expired or invalid licenses
If a license expires or fails validation, paid features and connectors revert toward Free-plan behavior while your job definitions stay intact. Fix the subscription or activate a new key and functionality returns. Common causes: lapsed payment, a key pasted with extra whitespace, or blocked outbound HTTPS — see license troubleshooting.
#Upgrades and offline environments
Upgrades are immediate: purchase the higher plan, activate the new key, and the new limits apply — no reinstall, no job changes. For custom scale, retention, or deployment needs, contact sales about Enterprise.
For hosts that can't reach the internet, FileAgent supports importing a signed offline license file under Settings → Licensing. If your environment is permanently air-gapped, mention it to sales so the right license type is issued.
